OVERVIEW
My plan is to survey correctional systems across the world in order to examine some fundamental questions: What features define each unique correctional system? Why does the correctional system function as it currently does? What are the impacts of the system on both the people within and outside?
In each country, I will spend three months working closely with an organization addressing a salient aspect of criminal justice. Below I have listed the different countries and organizations within those countries that I will be working with and included my original essays for the Waston fellowship that describe my project.

1. Nottingham, England
The Safer Living Association: Sex Offender Circles, Nottingham Prison
"Circles of Support and Accountability (Circles) build safer communities through local volunteers working with sex offenders to minimise alienation, support reintegration and so prevent sexual reoffending."
2. Oslo, Norway
Forandringsfabrikken: The Change Factory
"Through attractive participation mechanisms, Forandringsfabrikken (The Change Factory) develops processes of reflection where young people themselves, as service users and experts in the guardianship system, propose changes designed to improve the time spent in institutions."
3. Melbourne, Australia
The Torch Project
"The Torch has two objectives that it seeks to achieve through the Indigenous Arts in Prisons & Community program.
• Through art, cultural & arts vocation support, provide a forum for cultural exploration, expression & strengthening for members of the Indigenous community who are incarcerated and;
• Through supporting creative skills & connection to culture, work with participants to find a new way forward on their return to community and reduce recidivism."
4. Buenos Aires, Argentina
YoNoFui
"YoNoFui is a social organization that works on artistic projects y products in women's prisons in Buenos Aires and beyond, once they have regained their freedom. In the transition between "inside" and "outside" the confines of the prison, we have generated a collective project, that is supported in spaces of artistic creation and training in trade and from a critical conception towards power relations and unequal power structures, searches for social transformation and the creation of new forms of connection and solidarity."

AN IMPORTANT NOTE
Though I began planning this project with these specific organizations in mind, it is possible that my plans could change for many reasons. I will try to keep everyone updated on what I end up doing for this endeavor and if things change, but I want supporters to know that there are many reasons plans do not always work out. With many of these organizations I am still in the preliminary stages of contacting them and attempting to work out the nature of our collaboration. However, given the vast given the vast reach of carceral systems and their effects in all of these countries, I am optimistic that I will be able to make alternative plans true to the nature of my project even if my current leads fall through.
